When we think of health insurance or the medical industry regarding careers
a lot of us immediately picture doctors, nurses, technicians, specialists
or sales agents. The majority of the population, when dealing with anyone
in these fields, encounters any of the before mentioned. But what about
the day to day needs of the industry as a whole? After all, isn’t
it a company? Doesn’t the industry need payroll, marketing, housekeeping,
and in today’s digital world, analytics and social media experts?
The insurance and medical industries are where our health should matter.
We acquire health insurance to make sure that when we become sick, we
don’t go bankrupt trying to pay for the full cost of the medical
bills. We go see a doctor when we get sick because we want someone with
the education and knowledge to help us get better. As the population grows
the industry gets bigger and bigger. According to the
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics “Employment of healthcare occupations is projected to grow 14 percent
from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding
about 1.9 million new jobs.” In an industry that is growing this
fast, non-clinical opportunities are also growing.
Market Watch, “The economy created 145,000 jobs in the final month of 2019 to
cap off the ninth straight year in which new hires topped the 2 million
mark.” With that kind of job market, you can expect the medical
industry to be hiring. Rasmussen says that “There’s no denying
that there are plenty of opportunities waiting for you in healthcare.”
But, you’re not a doctor or a nurse, so how does that help you?
The industry is loaded with job opportunities for non-clinical employees.
From medical coders to managers the industry is full of opportunities
that have little to do with patient care. The truth is that the industry
has job opportunities for skilled labor that have never even worked in
the medical industry.
Florida Health Care Plans is always hiring in the clinical, but also the
non-clinical side of the industry. To learn more please visit
