Wear Red on February 5 for Women's Heart Health

Wear Red on February 5 for Women's Heart Health

Heart disease is the leading killer of women in the U.S. It takes more lives every year than all forms of cancer combined. Many women don’t even realize they are at risk. They still think that heart disease is a “man’s disease.” Meanwhile, our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, nieces, daughters, coworkers, neighbors, and all the other important women in our lives need to know this important information.

Take the time to educate yourself about women and heart disease and find out how you can “go red” this February. Now is the perfect time to start making some lifestyle changes that will lower your risk of heart disease.

Show your support on February 5

On February 5, 2016, the American Heart Association (AHA) is asking you to show your support for this worthy cause by wearing red. Ask your friends, family members, and co-workers to wear red this day as well so that they can show their support for the cause.

The Heart Association has already accomplished a great deal to improve the lives of American women over the past 11 years:

  • 21 percent fewer women are dying from heart disease
  • 23 percent are more aware that heart disease is the No.1 killer of women

Upload pictures of you or your group wearing red on February 6 to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using #FHCPgoesRED.

Get your colleagues at work, business partners, suppliers, other companies in your building – anyone you can think of to wear red, take a picture and upload to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #FHCPgoesRED.

You can also share why observing this day is important to you, and how you plan to be heart healthy in 2016!
