fhcpdodFlorida Health Care Plans has announced the addition of a new health benefit to its medical plans, Doctor On Demand!

Doctor On Demand (DOD) provides video visits with board certified physicians and licensed psychologists via smartphone, tablet or computer, and is available to members enrolled in FHCP medical benefits. The Doctor on Demand co-pay will be similar to a PCP co-pay.

The Emergency Room (ER): To Visit Or Not To Visit

No one schedules emergencies into their lives, they just happen…and a visit to an emergency department often called an ER or Emergency Room can sometimes be a frightening experience.

While some patients may avoid going to the emergency room because of a prior negative experience, many others do decide in certain instances to go directly to the ER, bypassing their regular doctor altogether. Putting off a necessary ER visit can be life threatening. On the other hand, clogging the ER system with a non-emergency problem can be costly for the patient and delay care to a patient experiencing a true life-threatening emergency.

Out of Pills? Need a Refill?

Call your neighborhood FHCP Pharmacy

WE CAN HELP!

1. Try to plan ahead! – Call the FHCP Pharmacy phone number on your prescription and if you have refills left, follow the prompts (Press 1), your medications will be available within 24 hours, if not sooner!

2. Need an Emergency Refill? – Call the FHCP Pharmacy phone number on your prescription and if you have refills left, follow the prompts to speak to a Pharmacist (Press 2), your medications will likely be available within an hour.

3. Out of Refills? – If you are out of refills when you call the telephone refill line, the FHCP Pharmacy will now automatically fax a renewal request for your medication to your Provider. Members do not have to call their Provider’s offices. If your Provider approves the medication renewal, your medication will be ready at your previously selected FHCP Pharmacy in about 3 days. If your Provider does not approve your medication renewal, you will need to contact your Provider for further assistance.
